Culinary excellence doesn’t get any better than this. Restaurant reviewers Eat Outare internationally known, and to get their approval certainly takes something special. Getting on their top 10 restaurants list takes something superhuman, though.

At an awards ceremony on Sunday, the restaurateurs revealed their picks for the best eateries in South Africa. An incredible nine out of ten entries are from the Western Cape. Who needs water when you’ve got great grub?

1. The Test Kitchen (Woodstock, Cape Town)

Cuisine:
The finest of all fine-dining. The 10-course Gourmand Menu is the most exquisite experience you can have in a restaurant. It’ll set you back R1600 (R2250 with wine pairing, R2000 with tea pairing), but will be worth every cent for Luke Dale Roberts’ signature dishes

2. Restaurant Mosaic at The Orient (Elandsfontein, Pretoria)

You’re getting a fusion of French and Mediterranean delights that will redefine your expectations of just how good food can be. This eloquent tasting course features the Grande Degustation menu R1250 (wine pairing R585) per person, and the Market Degustation R850 (wine pairing R460) per person
