How SASSA decides payment dates
SASSA pays permanent grants as early in the month as possible, staggered over three working days to ease congestion at ATMs, retailers, and pay points. In most months the older persons grant is paid first, the disability grant the next day, and the children’s grants the day after that.
SASSA considers weekends, public holidays and payment congestion when setting its calendar. These are scheduling considerations rather than an absolute ban on Monday payments: the revised November 2026 Disability Grant payment is Monday, 2 November. Use the published dates below rather than calculating a payment date from a general rule.

Note: Beneficiaries identified for a grant review may have a separate payment day and must respond to SASSA’s review requests. For the revised November 2026 cycle, SASSA has set aside 5 November for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.
The published 2026/2027 schedule also gives Older Persons, Disability and Children’s Grants respectively as 5, 6 and 7 January 2027; 2, 3 and 4 February 2027; and 2, 3 and 4 March 2027. Check for later revisions before planning a withdrawal.
SRD R370 grant payment dates
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant does not follow the same fixed schedule as the permanent grants. SRD payments are released later in the month, usually in batches during the final week, after SASSA completes its monthly income verification against SARS, UIF, and Home Affairs records.
There is no single fixed SRD date that applies to everyone. Your personal payment date is assigned once your verification clears, and it is shown on your status page. SASSA grant amounts in 2026
Permanent grant amounts increased from 1 April 2026, and the Foster Child Grant increased again from 1 October 2026. The SRD grant remains R370. The maximum monthly amounts as at 22 October 2026 are:

- Older Persons Grant (75 and older): R2,420

- Disability Grant: R2,400

How you get paid
Grants can be accessed through the beneficiary’s bank or Postbank account and supported withdrawal channels, including participating ATMs and retailers. Check your bank or Postbank’s current fees and limits before withdrawing.
Postbank announced that SASSA Gold Cards would stop working after 31 August 2026. If you have not replaced yours, contact Postbank on 0800 53 54 55 or a current replacement site for help restoring access. Do not assume an old Gold Card still works.

A payment date means the money becomes available, not that you must withdraw it all at once. If your grant has not arrived, work through these steps:
